Presenter Spotlight: Hilda Glazer, EdD, LPC, RPT-S

Meet Hilda Glazer, EdD, LPC, RPT-S, who is conducting the Parents and Children Sailing Together following Trauma Filial Play Therapy workshop aboard our inaugural Play Therapy Symposium at Sea!


Who is Hilda?

Hilda is a dedicated counselor in private practice who is passionate about working with children and families. Her professional journey has been shaped by meaningful clinical experiences, influential mentors, and a deep belief in the healing power of relationships. At the heart of her work is a commitment to helping families reconnect, heal, and grow together.

 

What does Hilda do?

Hilda works as a counselor in private practice, providing therapeutic services to children and families. She is especially passionate about supporting children who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Outside of work, Hilda enjoys spending time at the beach and embracing opportunities for rest and renewal.

 

How does Hilda work?

Hilda’s work is grounded in warmth, intentionality, and evidence-based practice. She brings a family-centered lens to her clinical work and emphasizes strengthening attachment and connection between children and caregivers. Her approach reflects both her clinical experience and her research, which highlight the powerful role of play therapy and filial therapy in restoring and strengthening families.

 

Why play therapy?

Hilda’s path into mental health began while serving as faculty at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. During that time, she worked with Child Life at Children’s Hospital and discovered her desire to work directly with children and their families. She later pursued counseling training at the University of North Texas, influenced by the work of Garry Landreth and leaders in play therapy.

 

What drives Hilda?

Hilda is driven by a passion for children who are grieving and by a strong belief in the ability of families to heal through supportive, connected relationships. Her experiences with a Filial Therapy Group led by Garry Landreth, along with mentorship and collaboration with members of the Guerney family, deepened her commitment to this work. She has seen firsthand how filial therapy empowers parents and strengthens children.

Hilda’s session highlights the transformative impact of play therapy and filial therapy for families. Attendees will gain insight into how these approaches help restore relationships, build parental confidence, and support children’s emotional healing, particularly during times of loss and transition.
